• Broadway Shopping Centre Begins Work On New Food Offering

Broadway has begun the final major stage of works on its new Level 2 redevelopment, with approximately 30 new retailers to be announced in the coming months as part of the centre’s $55 million redevelopment. The Level 2 food court is now closed for construction to deliver an expanded and enhanced dining precinct.

To service the needs of customers, Broadway is launching a pop-up food festival in February that will offer a range of new dining options alongside the 15 food stores and cafes that will continue to operate throughout construction.

All other retailers on Level 2, including Hoyts Cinemas, will remain open and trading during the redevelopment, which is due for completion in Spring 2016. The Centre’s owners, Mirvac and Perron Group, have confirmed it will be business as usual at the popular shopping centre throughout the redevelopment period.

“The majority of construction is behind a hoarding on Level 2, however there will be some upgrade works on the Level 2 trading mall, which will take place outside core trading hours to minimise disruption. The car park is operating as usual. Francis Street ramp pedestrian access ramp is provided via a safe diverted passage through the car park. Customers can still visit their favourite Level 2 stores during this time, including the exciting new Nike and General Pants,” said Mirvac Retail Senior Development Manager, Christina Nelson.

The 3,400 square metre expansion of Level 2 will deliver approximately 30 in-demand retailers and a new mini-major in response to ever-growing customer demand for aspirational fashion and new casual food and dining formats.

The first food retailer to open as part of the new food offering for Broadway will be The Gardens: a new concept for George Michael, founder of Janus. Planned to launch in April, the restaurant’s innovative fit-out by Otto Design Interiors takes inspiration from the creative hubs of Ultimo, Glebe and Chippendale. The licenced eatery is a combination of classic Mediterranean and paddock to plate, with inventive salads, burgers and a grab and go menu. Located on the Ground Floor of the Shopping Centre at the Bay Street entrance, The Gardens will include a bar, café and takeaway area surrounded by greenery.

To add to the shopper experience, Broadway will launch free Wi-Fi centre-wide in February.
