A revolutionary mobile worker hub called The Third Space opens this week at Orion Springfield Central, bringing the concept of a convenient three-minutes to everything high tech fitted out casual workspace to Ipswich.

A free two-day trial of the service is now available, aimed at start-ups, independent business people, students, artists and mobile consultants offering a high-tech, modular co-working space with a dedicated concierge.

The Third Space is located in the Target Mall opposite Mini Minders, operating from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, with both casual rates and monthly memberships offered during a 12-month trial of the concept.

Orion Springfield Central Marketing Manager Lauren Roche said The Third Space evolved from customer research that revealed people want a place to work that isn’t home but isn’t necessarily the office. A place that is ‘three minutes to everything’ came up as the ideal.

“The Third Space is a great example of an innovation that disrupts the norm of a shopping environment but fits perfectly with the needs of our local community,” she said.

The Third Space at Orion will offer free services like child care at Mini Minders, free printing and scanning, flexible working areas including cubicles and open spaces as well as a bookable meeting room with a TV, and a phone booth for privacy, charging stations, high speed Wi-Fi, stationary and a concierge to take food and beverage orders. The service will also offer dedicated parking bays to enhance convenience.

Its proximity to the train station and institutions in the Springfield area can offer alternatives to local workers to go mobile and avoid the commute to Brisbane or other office hubs.

Ms Roche said The Third Space was yet another initiative that was designed to enhance the connection, convenience and lifestyle offer to the community in Springfield as Orion continues to bring about facilities like the new $1.5m children’s playground and other amenities including Sirius dog park, expanded entertainment and dining offers and the centralisation of services like the library and post office at the centre.
