Toombul Shopping Centre in Brisbane will welcome Petbarn to its tenant mix next week, September 16th, as part of the current centre upgrade, heralding an Australian first Petbarn located inside a shopping centre for the popular pet supply retailer.
To celebrate and support this new offer for their customers, Toombul is also announcing it will become the first shopping precinct in Australia to welcome pets inside the centre. This unique addition to Toombul, as part of its upgrade program, responds to the high percentage of pet owners in the local area.
“Our focus is on creating unique and relevant customer experiences, so offering the community a destination where both customers and their pets are welcome is just one of the exciting additions currently underway at Toombul,” said Centre Manager Melanie Hodge.
She said the pet friendly zone at the Centre had been carefully planned to ensure safety and amenity for all Toombul’s shoppers while complementing the new Petbarn and enabling pet owners to bring their animals in for the new services on offer.
Petbarn’s new store format is being built with convenience in mind with this newest space set to include an in-house veterinary clinic, grooming quarters and Petbarn’s adoption service all within the store’s retail space to provide customers a one-stop-shop for all their pet needs.
“We are thrilled to be opening a brand new Petbarn store in the Toombul Shopping Centre. The new store offers a wide range of services including a Pet Adoption Centre in partnership with RSPCA, Greencross Vets Clinic and Grooming Salon all under the one roof. We are looking forward to sharing our passion for pets with the local community and providing pets with the very best in veterinary health, pet care and quality pet products,” said David Hunt, Petbarn Area Manager.
Toombul has included in-centre amenities to cater for pets, including a doggy respite area, a designated parking area and an entrance for owners and their pets, which will be located in the Petbarn entrance of Toombul Shopping Centre, so as not to disrupt other customers.
Petbarn follows a number of new tenancies that have been introduced to the centre as part of Mirvac Retail’s vision to realign the retail mix with the customer catchment in North Brisbane. Additional new tenancies include Bunnings, Laser Clinics Australia and Bellrose Jewellery with others including The IT Shop, W Lane and Studio Solo due to open soon.
“Toombul is at the start of a revival and the changes so far are evidence that we are dedicated and focused on delivering the vision for this centre. Toombul sits in the heart of an affluent, growing trade area and has stood the test of time, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. For Mirvac, it’s all about customer experience and the vision we have set in direct response to customer needs and trends. Right now, the focus is on improving amenity and the overall experience for our customers, but we aren’t just investing in the now – we are investing in Toombul’s future,” said Narelle Checchin, General Manager, Mirvac Retail Development.
Toombul follows in the footsteps of some of Mirvac’s most successful retail assets, which have recently undergone similar advancements, including Broadway and Birkenhead Point in Sydney and Orion Springfield in Brisbane.
